Small Business Programs

The Portland region’s small businesses are a critical part of the economy, drive the region’s entrepreneurial innovation and make up approximately 80 percent of the Alliance’s membership. The Alliance works to enhance and improve the small business and entrepreneurial community in Portland by providing business education programs, opportunities for relationship building and offering access to resources to help small business owners thrive.

Free small business advising

Make smarter decisions and grow your business with help from a professional business adviser.

The Alliance and Portland Community College’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) offer advising to small business owners at no cost. The one-hour sessions are conducted by professional business advisers and can cover how to incorporate innovative hiring techniques or any other aspect of growing a healthy business. Advising is open to all small business owners, including both Alliance members and nonmembers, and is structured for businesses of all sizes – ranging from start-ups to established enterprises. Sessions will be offered every Tuesday by appointment only at the Portland Business Alliance offices.

All small business owners are encouraged to take advantage of this great opportunity!

This program is made possible by a sponsorship from Willamette University MBA and Bank of America, intended to help small businesses develop innovative strategies to hire and train young workers in ways that are both good for business, and that reduce the unemployment hardships that disproportionately impact disadvantaged young people.
